Chapter 6

The women had overtaken the small cafeteria at the church in order to have enough space to help Chen get ready for her walk down the aisle. Her uncle had flown in to stand in place of her father. It had been so stressful for her to get to this point, and she was a nervous wreck. It was hard to tell with her beaming smile and laughter. She did have to let go some of the details, but she made the decision to stop worrying about everything. So far, everything had been going flawlessly.

What she did not want anyone to know is that she had some second thoughts about getting married. It was much more than just cold feet. She loved Todd, but the kiss with Travis did something to her. She did her best to stay clear of him, but she could not get that kiss out of her head. She had even dreamed of him last night. It may not have been cheating, but it still didn’t feel right. She hoped it was only a momentary infatuation or a bit of temptation that would go away after her honeymoon.

It didn’t help that Travis seemed to be everywhere. He always had that intense look in his eyes, and she felt like he could read her very thoughts. Did he know she was thinking about that kiss? Did he realize she dreamed about him? She was extremely uncomfortable around him, and even Todd picked up on it. She tried to play it off as his imagination, but she knew he could feel the tension.

She looked in the mirror and liked what she saw. She was wearing a trim and form-fitting white lace wedding gown that exposed her tan colored shoulders. The girls were trying to adjust her veil, which cascaded to mid-way down her back. She gripped the bouquet of colorful roses with both hands until it hurt. At least she had won her argument with Tara when it came to flowers. They had all been delivered on time and the exact types she wanted in the beginning. Why did some people have to make it such a battle for her? This WAS her special day wasn’t it?

Mya had requested TC to keep a low profile at this event. It seemed tacky for her to bring along a complete security entourage to a wedding, so she was limited to him. He wore a jet-black suit and a stunning red tie. He sat right behind Mya and Javier. Her boyfriend looked around every once in a while, and TC smiled broadly at him. As a famous person, he was used to a lot of attention. Still, he felt a little funny about TC’s constant presence but understood the need for security. He did lean in to talk to Mya so that at least their conversations were somewhat private.

She waved at Wendy when she looked around and saw her walking up the aisle trying to find a seat. Javier stood up with Mya, and she introduced him to Wendy.
